West Avenue School to hold Parent Information Night in Bridgeton to discuss parent needs
The News/BRIDGETON West Avenue School will hold its first Parent Information Night on Thursday, Feb. at the West Avenue School Auditorium.
The focus of the evening will be discussing parent needs, schedules and opportunities, then using that information to allow parents to be more involved and invested in the school culture.
was always told that a lot of parents simply don want to get involved in the school or the activities their children are involved with, and I don think that always true, said Najah Lanier, community and parental involvement specialist at West Avenue School.
parents work, or they have very busy lives, and I think we have to do a better job at finding out what works in terms of schedules, times and activities to make school userfriendly for all parents. the school regularly sends information home with students, ugg hommes, school officials say it not clear that all information gets through to parents. For instance, West Avenue School officials recognize the possibility of overload in today world creating problems managing what important and what not.
not always about how much information gets to parents, but more about the delivery system, Lanier acknowledged.
spam and junk mail and information coming from every direction, it important to find that right delivery system, and we hope to dialogue with parents on Feb. 23 to find what the needs are and what the best delivery system might be, she continued.
Parent Information Night will be specifically for parents or legal guardians of West Avenue School students, but the Feb. 23 event will also be open to grandparents or other family members who want to be invested in the lives of a student.
hope to use the evening to really learn about what parents need and what they are up against in terms of their schedules, whether they prefer email as a communication tool, what we might put on the website to help them anything to help them keep informed about their children and what happening at the school, Lanier said.
hope to see whole families take a little time and come out on Feb. 23. I think this can be the start of something really positive for parents and students. more information about Parent Information Night at West Avenue School, call Najah Lanier at (856) 4558030, ext. 2320.
