Best of Paris Fashion Week spring 2013
However, in my humble opinion, readytowear in the US this year is begging for better, but that's a different story, today, I offer a taste of the best of Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013.
It's taken ten days to digest the entire lot of Parisian flair. Let's get started.
Valentino: Refined beauty offering the world glamour and good taste. The slideshow has an image of a belted Aline red coat. The delicious color looks like a ripe and juicy apple ready to be eaten. Valentino treats those of us (Clamoring for all things French) to that which is Parisian Haute Couture at it's very best.
Marc Jacob for Louis Vuitton: Checker board 60s pop culture fashion. Delightful fun.
The Daily Front Row says, "It's a mod mod world! The Marc Jacob's Louis Vuitton show ended Paris Fashion Week succinctly and brilliantly with a checkheavy, striperidden collection that was as concise as it was imaginative. A peppier, preppier take on the sixties than his eponymous collection, the shapes were mostly limited to kicky mini dresses, doudoune moncler, long maxi gowns, and midlength skirting in a straight, sixties silhouette, and that was perfectly alright."
Chanel: Karl Lagerfeld continues to offer wonderful musings on the ageless Coco Chanel theme of the sophisticated working girl. Wind turbine themes throughout.
Saint Laurent: I mention Saint Laurent because I am still haunted by the vision of flowing capes, hats and images that embody a dark, mysterious and almost sinister view of spring.
Christian Dior without John Galliano and John Galliano without Christian Dior both seem lost, so sad. No disrespect to Raf Simons but he is not a John Galliano.
Elie Saab, Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney and others showing in Paris continue to draw in the American girl and the new absolutely fabulous fashion designer from Russian Ulyana Sergeenko.
